e.l.f. Essential Lip Stain

Essential lip stainWhen lip stain first became a thing, I had to have the Stila Yumberry Crush because every makeup magazine in the Western hemisphere was hawking it like a Girl Scout with her Thin Mints.  It came in the brush tip and that turned out to be insanely annoying because the brush would be saturated but I still couldn’t get any stain on my lips.

When lip stain came out in the marker style pen, I was all over the way it resembled a highlighter.  I love a cute package, but after the Yumberry Crush debacle, $25 seemed a bit steep for an experiment.

So  I was thrilled when e.l.f. came out with the $2 marker style lip stain.  It’s actually pretty awesome!   The hype says “The pen-like tip lets you draw on color easily for a streak & smudge free professional look. Infused with nourishing Vitamin E to hydrate and moisturize lips.”  I have to agree.  The pen is easy to use, unlike the brush tips, and the color is really nice.  They’re not lying about moisturizing lips either.

A note about the brand:  e.l.f. is cruelty-free and does not used animal derived ingredients.

  1. Have you looked into any items by Lush. I love the ‘Happy Hippie’ body wash, which can also be used as a shampoo. This scent is rather grapefruity and contains no animal products nor is it tested on animals. Lush seems to try to label items careful in accordance with those two concerns.
